Hewitt Recognized as Outstanding Intern
Michael Hewitt ™20 has been recognized as an Outstanding Intern by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists. Hewitt interned two summers with Grant Johnson, a physical chemist at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). Hewitt, along with Associate Professor of Chemistry Heriberto Hernandez and fellow ºÚÁϰٿÆian Sophie Paek ™19, studied gold cluster synthesis with Johnson at the PNNL in the summer of 2018 through the DOE Visiting Faculty Program. Hewitt continued that research with Johnson for a second summer with a DOE Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship. This collaboration led to two publications for Hewitt, Hernandez, and Johnson.
