Choosing ºÚÁϰٿÆ
œMy mother and my brother went to ºÚÁϰٿÆ. And so when I was looking at colleges, I thought, ˜That it. The buck stops here. I™m going out East.™ But then I had a change of heart a few days before the deposit deadline, when I realized, ˜Why would I go somewhere that doesn™t feel the way ºÚÁÏ°Ù¿Æ feels?™ I knew I wanted to be in an intentional community ” with individuals who were both focused on their academics and dedicated to creating a supportive environment.
First-Year Tutorial
œMy tutorial was The Making of Human Rights with Professor Elizabeth Prevost. I couldn™t have asked for a better tutorial professor. She was challenging, and that what I needed as a first-year student. Regardless of the topic, which I was very interested in, and regardless of the other students, who were wonderful and many of whom I™m still friends with, tutorial was really about being in a safe environment to fail. It was a place to try out what it means to write as a college student, or do a presentation as a college student, or do the reading in a way that made discussion worthwhile. You have three months to work closely with this group of students to figure it out.
